So me and my boy Funk D hit this up last night at the Nokia Theater in New York. Shit was ill. It started at 8 pm sharp and kept rocking until almost 11.Set to be just The Roots, Big Daddy Kane, and MC Lyte, Skillz was also in attendance.It started out with The Roots and Skillz paying dues to the other legends of the game, performing some classic RUN-DMC, NWA, EPMD, and LL Cool J, among others. ?uestlove even spit a verse from UTFO's 'Roxanne, Roxanne' while holding down the drums. After that, they brought out MC Lyte to perform a few of her cuts, which were all ill. She even spit a crazy acapella joint which you can hear part of below.

Skillz then came back out to perform a song off of his album called 'Crazy World', which sounded dope from the live performance. But anything sounds good with The Roots band behind it. The Roots and Skillz then went to proceed with the covers, doing some classic NaS and Wu-Tang joints among others.

MC Lyte then came back out to perform 'Top Billin'. After that, most of the band took a short break while ?uestlove introduced the crowd to Rashad Smith. I wasn't familiar with him at all, but after the night he easily became one of my favorite producers. ?uest started out by saying "i'm sure most of yall don't know this dude by his face, but when you hear the tracks he's made you will". He then went to play about a dozen classic tracks that he produced, including Don't Sweat The Technique, Dreams (Just Playin), Woo Haa, If I Ruled The World, Juice (Know The Ledge), and a ton more that I probably shouldn't be mentioning. After that came Big Daddy Kane. Starting out with an ill performance of Warm It Up Kane, and then closing it off with Ain't No Half Stepping, the whole set was flawless. He also did a dope tribute to Biggie, Pac and JMJ. It was one of the best concerts ive ever been to. I definatley recomend catching any of these cats live, they all put on a great show.
