Mayor Bloomberg has now put new legislation into effect where the legal smoking age in New York City will be raised from 18 to 21. This plan is set to hopefully reduce the numbers of teenagers who contract the early stages of nicotine addiction. Bloomberg has also puts laws into place to reduce the street sales of cigarettes as well. Because a city such as New York City has put a plan like this in motion, we may see other cities across the nation adopt these same laws in the coming months.
