During the media frenzy post 'Hotline Bling' music video release, many pointed out similarities to the work of James Turrell. Drake has been noted to be a fan of Turrell, and even went to say he used his work as an influence for his last tour. The comparisons went so far that Turrell issued a statement through his lawyer regarding the video. His commentary exclaimed that he was flattered by Drake's compliment, but wanted to make it clear that work had nothing to do with him.
