Intel is developing a neuromorphic chip whose design was inspired by the functions of the human brain, called the Loihi chip. The Loihi chip has over 128 computing cores, and each core has 1,024 artificial neurons. The data is transmitted through spikes between neurons in the chip, and Intel hopes that the spiking nature will set the Loihi chip apart. Intel will receive the first chip in November, and you can read more about it here.
