Get To Know: City Haze

Large
Brooklyn Streets (Ft. Young-O)
Brown Eyes
In our "Get to Know" Section we are starting to put together a wide selection of artists. This week is City Haze from New York, let us know what you guys think about him. illRoots.com: Thanks for sitting down with us. Why City Haze?
City Haze: Basically being from New York City dudes use to always say, "Yo that kid is gonna be the future of Hip Hop and New York." So I took that into consideration and used City to the best of my advantage. Haze was a name that was given to me by friends I hang out with. If you buy a bag of Haze in the streets, hustlers refer to it as, "That fire," so basically I just put the two together; City Haze.
iR: What is your biggest asset to Hip-Hop?
CH: My versatility and work ethic. Mainstream music has changed drastically through out the years , i feel that with those two things in my arsenal i can make a major change in the game coming from a younger generation of music .
iR: Projects you are looking forward too getting in 08'?
CH: To be completely honest i dont even know yet , i will probably know by the end of the summer what projects i'll look foward to getting for 08.
iR: NO...i mean Nas, Common, what new joints are you looking forward.
CH: Definitely Nas i would like to hear the outcome of the whole Ni**er situation , with that project it sounds like he's really trying to make a big statement to Hip Hop .
iR: So if you could make one last song who produces it and whats the title?
CH: {Laughs} "None Ya Bizness" produced by Timbaland or "Last Words" produced by Guru
iR: Okay so word association. New York.
CH: The Hustle
iR: Jay-Z
CH: Business
iR:Sean Bell.
CH: NYPD
iR: Lyrics
CH: Imagination
iR: Okay, So your new music what inspires you to do this?
CH: Life itself , i walk the streets everyday and see things that i can always write about . I write music so that others can relate to it either if it deals with something bad or good .
iR: What new projects can we expect from you?
CH: Right now im working on my first debut project "City Lane" which will be out sometime this year. With this being my first project coming out strong is not even an option, its something that i have to do.
iR: If you could get one company to back you and sponsor you and reflect your values what company would that be?
CH: Im not to sure because a lot of companies exploit hip hop culture. I would really have to do my homework. It would probably be T-Mobile.
iR: So where is hip-hop in New York at in your eyes?
CH: From the underground perspective theres alot of emcees from New York with hell of talent but i also feel that New York is in a serious shadow right now . Why ?? Everybody knows New York is always the place to find a serious emcee but its our state of mind that closes our gates to success .
iR: Three Words or less: Define Yourself.
CH: Creative , Humble & Tall
iR: Okay last shout outs.
CH: Shout outs to Guilty J , Team Citee Boy , Pot Belli , Vid Arroyo , A.B.Y , Fans & Major shout outs to illRoots.com for the interview.
