You Want to Be With Me
In R&B there have been quite a number of young talented artists. For 14 years old, Adero Neely, is poised to follow in the steps of Chris Brown and Usher. With aspirations to being a media mogul he has his sights set to be at the top of the game by time he leaves high school. Let us know what you think about this young talent. Enter Adero Neely...ilRoots.com: Okay so you are super young at 14 years old. What do you bring that no one else has come with so far?
Adero: Many people say that I am a mix between a young Micheal Jackson, Usher, Smokey Robinson and Chris Brown rolled into one. Although I am only 14, I have been on the grind for 5 years. I have a father who is my guardian angel and he has put together an organization of over 50 professionals from LA to NY into Canada, all serving different functions toward one goal. I am the president of our company which is called N Dahoz Entertainment. I bring longevity to the game. I am the youngest R&B singer to hit radio in over 30 years. And, this is only the beginning!
illRoots.com: Unlike rap, R&B as a genre has thrived pretty good with the emergence of Chris Brown. How do you feel about the top artists in you genre and what influences you do get into such a cut throat industry at such a young age?
Adero: I think Chris Brown is great and I look forward to meeting him and other artists like Lloyd, Usher as well as other great artists. They are keeping R&B alive and I plan to make my contributions as well. At 14 years old, I have 35 original songs that can compete with any major label artist. They are hot and the kids in my generation can relate to them. Many people say this is a cut throat industry. I always stay positive and keep my head up. My father is a great lawyer and he swims in deep water with sharks everyday. He will protect my interest and he makes sure that I continue to learn the business side of everything we do. I have sat in on every business meeting involving me and have met or talked with everyone who has been involved with my project.
illRoots.com: What is the most important part of your life at the current moment?
Adero: The most important part of my life is the enjoyment of my childhood. I have learned from the pitfalls of other young artists and I plan to enjoy every childhood experience and cherish them. And then there is the serious side of me. I love to write songs, sing, dance, play the piano and perform. I also love to act. This is the only life I know and the only career path that I want.
illRoots.com: If you could work with one producer whom and why?
Adero: I would love to work with Dream, Brian Cox, Bangladesh, and Kanye West. They are raw.
illRoots.com: You seemed to have had some success in the Chicago area and on stage in a few musicals. What parallels can you contrive from music
Adero: Wait a minute. My music is being played in Tacoma, Seattle, Baton Rouge, Canada and the UK. I extend beyond Chicago. I love Broadway Musical as well as off broadway. There is a clear parallel between Broadway and R&B, which both require discipline and dedication!
illRoots.com: When shall we see a nationally distributed album?
Adero: We are talking with a few labels. We are looking for the right fit. We want to be associated with a company that understand that I can corner the market from 8 to 26 and capture the imagination of the world. I want a company that is gonna push my music. I look forward to working with the Chicago Bulls in the future and being a role model for all the children they are reaching out too. I also appreciate companies like Stall & Dean, one of my sponsors.
illRoots.com: Who are you working with in the studio (producer/artist wise)?
Adero: I am currently working with Frayne Lewis, the son of Ramsey Lewis. I am also working with Semio, out of Detroit Michigan, and a young producer named JTrak, out of Atlanta. Now JTrak is raw. He has his fingers on alot of situations. You can find my songs on iTunes.
illRoots.com: Where shall we see you 10 years from now and what interests you other than music?
Adero: At 24, I should be the president of a major record label. I will be on the top of the business. I hope to follow after people like Puffy and Jay Z. But I am talking about some futuristic stuff in the form of . I'm talking clothing lines, producing music, signing artists; you name it, as well as still doing my thing as a performer. My base will always be the Chi, which is my city, but the world is my oyster and the sky is the limit. I also plan on being a lawyer like my dad. Additionally, I will use my wealth and influence to provide employment opportunities to talented young people.
illRoots.com: Thanks again for the time.
