WELCOME TO CLASS “The Next Generation of Music”
Hi world, as always I am here to bring to you the newest generation of artists to hit the airwaves. This is your chance to hear artists that are getting ready to blow. So sit back, relax, and get educated.
Fred Knuxx has been around for some while now, and has become a staple on the East Coast and West Coast. His charismatic flow and rise through the ranks of Delaware’s Finest emcees has been an uncharted path. Through each obstacle he seems to bounce back and become stronger and stronger. With his affiliation with one the most predominant West Coast management companies, Jazzy Management, working with some of the Left Coasts finest in G. Malone and Spider Loc, and an up-and-coming label in Starcore we are going to see big things from the man known as “Mr. Impact”.
Hallway: Okay first off I would like to thank you as always for your time as i know you are busy
Fred Knuxx: No doubt appreciate the interview fam
Hallway: Oh yea your favorite Artist that isn't Hip-Hop?
Fred Knuxx: My favorite non-hip hop artist is Alicia Keys as of right now
Hallway: If Fred Knuxx were the President of the United States what would be your first order of business as President?
Fred Knuxx: Get the troops out of Iraq for fighting a war for oil.
Hallway: As an artist and ambassador for Hip-Hop there has to be reasoning behind everything that we put out what is the reason for Fred Knuxx to be heard?
Fred Knuxx : To bring the essence of hip hop back... I feel like there are not many complete artist in the game right now..... that's why there is so many 1 hit wonders that's here today and gone tomorrow..... We need more Lyricist in the game and that's where I come. I believe I'm a mediator between the golden days but still have awareness of what's out now and offer balance to the game
Hallway: Okay, as we been friends for years now, I see the development of your style and lyrics, as time goes on you have made certain strategic moves to further your career who have you surrounded yourself with in order to become a complete artist?
Fred Knuxx: Just my squad Starcore which consist of The Gift and Proud... Also artist like AO, Dom 1, Huff who I'm very cool with.... They keep me on my toes as an artist. Those are the artist that's in my circle and we always compare music and inspire each other to step their game up.. I don't really hang with a lot of people that I don't relate too.. That's why I don't do a bunch of features unless there is some type of music chemistry.
Why waste verses if it don't make sense ya dig
Hallway: Okay Mr. Knuxx you blow, you get guap, your on top of the game, what is the most unexpected collaboration that you would do?
Fred Knuxx: That's a tough question right there...... The main artist I would wanna work with is Andre 3000.... In other Genres of music I'm open to work with artist outside of rap as long as that chemistry fits the song and its just not a business move. From country to rock it wouldn't matter to me
Hallway: Okay now lets delve into your work. Its time to see whats behind the man proclaimed as "Mr. Impact"
Fred Knuxx: Every year I always come up with a new name or alias. This year it was Mr. Impact because I plan on Impacting the game....
Hallway: Your recent work with such Left Coast staples as Eastwood, Spider Loc, Akil from Jurassic 5, and G. Malone has led to a more West Coast sound, do you feel that this is straying from your East Coast heritage?
Fred Knuxx: Nah its not that I'm straying from my East Coast roots, its just paying homage to a coast I always loved and respected coming up as a youngster and showing the world what unity is about ya feel me. I have about 4 different projects I'm working on and all of them sound different from one another. That's what artist do. One day I felt like doing a west coast project to show unity and that's how Delafornia came about I just holla'd at my manager Jazzy D who's from the west coast and he made it happen. I also gotta mixtape called Face Of De I just finished which is more East Coast with more east coast artist. I have a project called On The Verge EP which has a oldschool soulful feeling to it that's east coast related. I songs I did with down south artist. I never limit myself to 1 coast or anything, I always think Outside the Box because how I am as an artist. Hip Hop is universal so why not make universal music. I even had songs with artist from the UK, Germany, Poland and South Africa ya feel me.Its all about getting good music to the masses.
Hallway: True, so your recent song was a message to the labels is there any labels that have reached out to you at all?
Fred Knuxx: Yea we are in talks with a few labels don't wanna say names like that but anyone that truly knows the business knows that 4th quarter is not the time to get signed because labels are focusing on the Heavyweights in the game. They are real stingy with the budgets 4th quarter lol. So I'm riding everything out til January/February to really talk heavy about a deal. Until then I wanna go hard with the projects, shows and other press to add on the resume so we can talk real biz early 08.
Hallway: Any name drops as far as labels go?
Fred Knuxx: Nah u never do that but shout out to Ms TT at ( ) records and Jay at ( ) ent, and D Money at ( ) records........ I rather shout names of the actual A&Rs that I sat down and talked to
Hallway: Okay to wrap things up where can we find Fred Knuxx at?
Fred Knuxx: November 9th you can find me on stage at the East End Cafe in Newark, Delaware for my Face Of DE show. You can find me online at www.fredknuxx.com, www.myspace.com/fredknuxx to get all ya updates on me. Lately I been all over the place from LA to Alabama just tryna stay active and get my name out.
